CCW Reciprocity In A Nutshell: Article highlights the varying
recognition of out-of-state permits across the nation and give some
sense of which states do and don't recognize others' permits. The
federal bill to mandate reciprocity is discussed but only in the context
that it is unlikely to pass, not the fact that the federal government
should not be regulating CCW.

Don't Forget HR 1897: United States Representative Ron Paul has
introduced a bill that I hope gets some traction. HR1897 would restore
our ability to carry firearms in the National Parks for our defense. How
important is this? Every year we hear some terrible story of someone
getting mauled or killed by wild animals on Federally owned land - land
that we are encouraged to visit and pay for, but where we are forbidden
the ability to defend ourselves. This, to me, is insane.

LAPD Hosts Microstamping Demonstration: A proposed California bill
requiring all new handguns to be stamped with microscopic identification
tags could significantly decrease violence and shut down the illegal gun
market if passed, proponents said in a news conference Tuesday. The
Crime Gun Identification Act, AB 1471, would require that lasers be used
to create a "microstamp" of each gun's make, model and serial number
that would become imprinted onto shell casings when a bullet is fired.
The technology was demonstrated Tuesday by its co-inventor, Todd
Lizotte, at the Los Angeles Police Academy.

Clayton Cramer Defends NICS Improvement Act: ...Now, a lot of gun rights
organizations whose commitment to the cause I do not question have
broken with NRA on HR 2640. Gun Owners of America and Jews for the
Preservation of Firearms Ownership are notable examples of groups that
are very concerned that HR 2640 is going to open a Pandora's Box of new
gun restrictions, and they have managed to get this concern expressed to
a large part of the gun rights community... (Cramer's credentials
include writing Armed America, a response to the fraudulent Arming
America by Michael Bellesiles.)

Do We Need A New Rule?: A ten-year-old Massachusetts boy spent 15
minutes locked in a gun safe on display at a Sam's Club store after he
and his cousin inadvertently discovered the correct combination to its
digital lock. (I thought it was pretty much taken for granted that
parents should maintain control of their kids.)
