How Will The Supremes Rule On The DC Handgun Ban?: Two legal experts
offer their predictions on the outcome of  District of Columbia v.
Heller (formerly known as Parker et al.v. District of Columbia). Both
predict that the Supreme Court will rule that the Second Amendment
guarantees an individual right, at least to keep arms, but that DC will
be allowed to maintain some level of regulation.

the right to protect themselves in a situation like the one in which 32
Virginia Tech students and faculty were fatally shot...Students for
Concealed Carry on Campus members at more than 60 colleges are trying to
change their state laws to allow permit holders to carry on campus.

I'm Baack...: The battle over gun control is back, and it's reaching
into city halls, state legislatures and the halls of Congress.
Presidential candidates are talking about it, Jesse Jackson is talking
about it, and Congress is on track to possibly pass the first federal
gun control legislation since 1994. Part of the push is for tougher
restrictions on gun shows, which have been popular in North Texas for
decades. Gun advocates like Burrows believe that's misguided.

Licensed Gun Ownership Dropping In Romney's Home State: The number of
licensed gun owners in Massachusetts has declined by more than a quarter
in the past six years, a falloff driven by restrictive laws, higher
licensing fees, and cultural change, according to police officers and
gun owners. The drop is especially dramatic in the eastern part of the
state and in urban areas. The number of licensed gun owners fell at
least 30 percent in Boston, Springfield, Quincy, Fall River, and
Waltham. It dropped at least 20 percent in more than 220 of the state's
351 communities. (Perhaps some of the gun owners have fled to New
Hampshire.)

California's Stolen-Gun Ordinances: More and more towns in California
seem hell-bent on passing laws that turn law-abiding gun owners into
criminals if they don't report lost or stolen firearms to the police
within a certain time period...A California politician admits that the
law is a complete failure, yet because the Brady Campaign keeps pushing
it, more and more cities in California are passing it.

Oops, Wrong Store: A man walked into a Florida strip-mall convenience
store at 6460 Pines Blvd. around 12:30 p.m. with an accomplice and a
cocked shotgun. The men demanded cash, said Sgt. John Jacob, Pembroke
Pines Police spokesman. Flanders, 54, responded by pulling out a
handgun. The armed robber reacted by pointing his weapon at Flanders.
The store clerk then fired his gun in self-defense, Jacob said, hitting
the suspect in the abdomen.

Armed Citizen Aids Texas Officers In Shootout: Police were called to
what they thought was an accident on the interstate about 2:15 a.m. When
they arrived, they saw two people laying on the freeway, several feet
apart, suffering gunshot wounds, police said. As one officer aided a
person on the ground, his partner, Senior Cpl. Jerry Poston, was shot by
someone from inside a nearby car. Several passersby who had stopped to
help told police that they, too, were fired on when they tried to
approach the car. As bullets continued to fly, one of those passing
motorists went to his car, grabbed a gun and began returning fire. (It
was fortuitous that the armed citizen was not shot before he was able to
retrieve his gun nor is it clear if it was a handgun or a long gun. It's
best to keep handguns holstered on your person.)

Jim Zumbo Continues His Rehabilitation: ...OK, it wasn't a typical
class. Between the post-shoot steak dinner catered by a professional
chef to the (legal) cannon and automatic weapon firing demonstrations,
there was a concerted effort to help Zumbo understand that AR-15
shooters and hunters aren't crazed right-wing militants waiting for an
apocalyptic one-world government takeover.
