US Attorney Reneges On Red's Trading Post Charge: In a stunning
reversal, US Attorney Deborah Ferguson has gone back on her agreement to
withdraw harassment complaints against Red's Trading Post. She is
apparently angered over Ryan Horsley's recent public statements
defending his actions. More will be released on this story pending a
statement from Mr. Horsely. WarOnGuns will continue to follow
developments as they occur.

Self-Defense In NYC: One man was killed and another wounded after being
shot in Queens late Tuesday by a contractor who told investigators that
the men had demanded $20,000 from him and threatened to harm his wife,

investigators he shot the men in self-defense. He was expected to be

the police said.

San Francisco Mayor Signs Illegal Firearm Ordinances: San Francisco
Mayor Gavin Newsom signed anti-gun legislation today in an effort to
reduce the city's illegal gun activity. The three pieces of legislation
prohibit the possession or sale of firearms on city property, require
firearms in residences to be in a locked container or have trigger locks
and require firearm dealers to submit an inventory to the chief of
police every six months. (Regulation of deadly weapons is pre-empted by
the state in California.)

Oops, Wrong House: A robbery gone bad in northeast Dallas turned into a
gunbattle early Wednesday that ended with one man dead, another injured
and another facing charges. Police found small amounts of marijuana
during their investigation and were looking into whether the events were
drug-related. (Note that the getaway vehicle made it nearly a mile after
its tires were shot.)

eBay Bans Firearm Components: eBay revisited its "Firearms, Weapons and
Knives" policy after learning that some items purchased on eBay may have
been used in the tragedy at Virginia Tech in April 2007. eBay currently
bans guns and other weapons from its site (see its "Prohibited and
Restricted Items list), and is now adding any firearm part that is
required for the firing of a gun. (I'll have to wait and see how long
eBay subsidiary Paypal allows me to continue selling my book via their
service.)

From JPFO: JPFO has mentioned the "Fairness in Firearms Testing Act"
before. Introduced back in 2005 by Rep. Phil Gingrey of Georgia, the act
would require all firearms testing performed by the BATFE to be
videotaped, and to make copies of the unedited recording available to
owners of the tested items and defendants in cases involving those
items...The bill died in the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by that
great "friend" of gun owners, Rep. James Sensenbrenner...
