Do Stand-Your-Ground Laws Create Legal Confusion?: The Washington Post
focuses on two cases, one from Florida and one from Kentucky, and admits
that in Florida a prosecutor filed charges against a citizen, even
though he privately thought Borden might have been correct to open fire.
(While Florida may have been the first state in a recent wave of
stand-your-ground legislation, many states lacked a duty to retreat

New Jersey Mayor Quits Bloomberg Coalition: "I joined your coalition
because of its purported purpose to combat the criminal acquisition and
misuse of guns, which is a goal shared by all Americans," wrote Moore in
his resignation letter to Mr. Bloomberg. "Regrettably, it has become
abundantly clear to me that you are using this coalition of mayors to
advance a hidden agenda of bringing lawsuits against members of the

Public Safety Committee on Monday sent three gun-control measures to the
full board for a likely vote July 17, while it held up one of the more
controversial measures that would establish a registry for gun

cooperative it was. Although you'd never know it, scholars have
repeatedly shown that the old West was actually safer than most American
cities today."
