Once Again, OSHA vs. Ammo: The Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) has proposed new rules that would have a dramatic
effect on the storage and transportation of ammunition and handloading
components such as primers or black and smokeless powder. The proposed
rule indiscriminately treats ammunition, powder and primers as "explosives."

Just Not In New York City...: Republican presidential candidate Rudy
Giuliani, a strong proponent of gun control during his years as New York
mayor, told a Southern audience Friday that he supports the
constitutional right to bear arms..."It doesn't matter if I believe in
it or not - and I do - it is the Second Amendment," Giuliani said. "I'm
a strict constructionist. The Second Amendment says you have an
individual right to bear arms."

More Musings On Parker: I've read this article from the Harvard Law
Bulletin and am still not sure if it really says much, other than
crediting the NRA for crafting a case it actually opposed. Oh, yeah, and
Sandra Froman, Harvard Law alumna and past president of the NRA, has a
clear shot down her driveway, all the way to the road.

Chicago Ain't Tennessee: A woman visiting Chicago from Tennessee was
arrested yesterday morning after attempting to visit the Skydeck of the
Sears Tower with a loaded gun in her purse...Before we continue, we
ought to point out that, provided you have a permit, carrying a loaded,
concealed weapon in Tennessee is perfectly legal. The 56-year-old woman
did in fact have said permit. But as anyone who loves barbecue will tell
you, Chicago ain't Tennessee...

Warrantless In Philadelphia: Last week, District Attorney Lynne Abraham
and Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson announced the Philadelphia Gun
Removal Program, in which adult residents can give cops permission to
search their home for illegal handguns. If a gun is found, no one will
be charged - unless it can be connected to a crime.

Kalashnikov, "I Sleep Well": "I sleep well. It's the politicians who are
to blame for failing to come to an agreement and resorting to violence,"
Kalashnikov said Friday at a ceremony marking the birth of the rifle,
whose initials stand for "Avtomat Kalashnikov." It was before he started
designing the gun that he slept badly, worried about the superior
weapons that Nazi soldiers were using with grisly effectiveness against
the Red Army in World War II.

FATS Training Therapy For Amputees: ...Recently, American therapists
found that what many wounded troops wanted most was to use their weapons
again. This was particularly true with those who had lost limbs...Two
years ago, a program was begun, using a firearms simulator, to enable
wounded troops, especially amputees, to see if they could regain their
weapons skills. They could, and felt a lot better because of it.

that compromise is not an effective tactic...
