OSHA Comment Reminder: Published to cricket-chirping silence in the
Federal Register on April 13, 2007 was a rule proposed by the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to govern the
manufacture, transport, and distribution of explosives. The
Alice-in-Wonderland aspect is that the rule includes small arms
ammunition and reloading components like smokeless propellant and small
arms primers in its definition of "explosives." If the rule were
implemented as written, it would effectively eliminate the manufacture,
transport, wholesaling and retailing of ammunition in the United
States...Unless extended, the comment period closes on July 12!

Rule Five Reminder: A 21-year-old college student in Michigan is dead of
a gunshot wound, inflicted when a close friend, unfamiliar with
firearms, walked into his bedroom and picked up a loaded pistol that had
been left on a dresser. (Rule Five: Maintain control of your firearm.)

Ricochet-Shot, Additional Report: It turns out that the burglar struck
by a ricochet from a "warning shot" was actually in North Carolina, not
South Carolina, as I reported yesterday. The meat of this report is in

Will South Africa License 18-Year-Olds To Own Fireams?: The Firearms
Control Act will have to be amended to allow 18-year-olds, who are now
regarded as adults, to possess firearms, Freedom Front Plus spokesperson
Pieter Groenewald has said. He said on Wednesday that the Act had to be
amended after sections of the Children's Act came into effect on July 1,

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund has a chance to elect GOA
Life Member Dr. Paul Broun to the U.S. House of Representatives. Broun
made it into the runoff election following the June 19 special election
to fill the seat of recently deceased Rep. Charles Norwood.
The runoff is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17. The winner will
immediately become the next congressman from Georgia's 10th district.
Broun has been an active sportsman and firearms activist for years, and
is currently a GOA Life Member. He feels very deeply about the Second
Amendment - indeed, about the entire Constitution. Working to get rid of
gun control laws is something that Broun believes in.
Please do what you can to help Broun win the special election on June
19. You can donate online by going to
http://www.paulbroun.com/111.html
(a special section just for GOA supporters). Or, you can write a check
made out to Paul Broun Committee and mail it to P.O. Box 7165, Athens,
GA 30604.
If you happen to live in Georgia and think you can volunteer to help Dr.
Broun's campaign, information is available at his main website:
http://www.paulbroun.com
We have a chance to put a true friend of gun owners in the House of
Representatives, so please donate what you can today. Time is of the
essence.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Tim Macy
Vice-Chairman
