Tiahrt Amendment Should Be Protected, Not Repealed: Sensitive gun trace
data for criminal investigations should be protected, not opened up to
the access of every lawsuit-happy political demagogue, as New York Mayor
Michael Bloomberg and his cronies in the Mayors Against Illegal Guns
coalition would like to have happen.

Nevada Reciprocity Bill Signed: On Friday, June 15, Governor Jim Gibbons
(R) signed Senate Bill 237, sponsored by Senator John Lee (D-1) and
Senator Warren Hardy (R-12). SB237 will allow Nevada to negotiate
Right-to-Carry reciprocity agreements with states whose training
standards match Nevada's. SB237 will be effective Monday, October 1.
(As I recall, this bill allows for reciprocity agreements with states
that have similar standards for issuance, primarily a training requirement.)

Arizona Gun-Storage Bill Goes To Governor: The Senate today approved and
sent Governor Napolitano a bill that would let a person take a gun into
a public event or building if the operator bans weapons but doesn't
provide individually locked storage spaces. Current state law allows
operators of public buildings and events to ban weapons if they provide
storage places for them.

Ohio Elderly Feel Safer Armed: ...Geis is among a growing number of
seniors licensed to carry a concealed firearm. Because of the way the
state collects such information, it's hard to determine exactly what
portion of concealed-carry permit holders are 60 or older. However, some
local permit data and anecdotal information indicate they have steadily
packed heat since the state's concealed-carry law passed in 2004...

More Details...: When a neighbor screamed she'd been shot, Colin Bruley
grabbed his shotgun, found the victim and began treating her bloodied
right leg. Tonnetta Lee survived Tuesday's pre-dawn shooting at her
Jacksonville apartment, and her sister and a neighbor praised Bruley's
actions. But his employers, the same people who own the Arlington
complex where Bruley lives, reacted differently. They fired him.

Bringing An Attitude To A Gunfight: A 17-year-old Louisiana boy foiled
an attempted carjacking, wrestling a gun from a would-be robber and
shooting him after the man grabbed his mother, authorities said. (Note

business.)

Oops, Wrong CHL Course: A Harris County TX deputy constable was fired
Monday after he was charged with selling permits to carry a concealed
weapon with no class time required, authorities said. (Actually, it's
more likely that he was merely certifying that applicants had completed
the requisite training. When this has been discovered in Arizona, the
affected permits have all been revoked.)
