require Colorado residents to obtain Colorado CWP's has now passed both
houses of the legislature and awaits the governor's signature. Not
mentioned in the article is that this bill also requires visitors to
reside in the state that issued their permit in order for it to be
recognized in Colorado.

Aide Arrested With Senator's Pistol: A staffer for freshman Sen. Jim
Webb, D-Va., was arrested today by Capitol Police in Washington when he
tried to pass through security with a bag containing a pistol and
ammunition that belonged to the senator. Congressional rules allow
congressmen and senators, but not staff, to have a gun on federal
property. A congressional official briefed on the incident said Webb
gave the gun to Thompson when the assistant drove him to an airport
earlier in the day and that Thompson, upon entering the Senate building,
forgot he was carrying the weapon.

An Informal Look At Idaho Self-Defense Law: ...Just last year, the Idaho
Legislature amended the self defense law. Now, anyone who uses force in
an incident of self defense is immune from any civil liability. But for
a law that varies from state to state, what does Idaho consider self

Retired Officer Dies In Gun-Cleaning Accident: A retired Jersey City
police officer, working as a consultant to the department's K-9 unit, is
reported to have shot himself accidentally, inside a police building,
while cleaning his firearm. (Are retired officers authorized to carry
firearms in New Jersey? Is this another case of someone shooting himself
while disassembling a pistol that requires a trigger press in the
process or of a suicide being labeled a gun-cleaning accident?)

Police Chief Comments On Des Moines Shooting: ...It is unfortunate and
tragic that a person died in this situation. But I find it hard to place
any blame on the victim, providing that what I read in the paper is
accurate. The suspect is the one who decided to get drunk, climb onto a
fire escape and try and break into an apartment. She created the
situation that led to her death.

Bringing An Unloaded Gun To A Gunfight: A Tucson judge brought out some
familiar lines while scolding a defendant he was sentencing for
manslaughter. Of note, however is the fact that the deceased appears to
have gotten himself killed when an argument escalated and he apparently
forgot that his shotgun was not loaded.
