Georgia Sheriff's Department Offers Firearm Safety Course: Apparently
sharing my belief that people who buy firearms for self-protection
should not settle for the training that comes in the box with the gun,
the Chatham County Sheriff's Department is offering a one-day basic
firearms course the second Saturday of each month. (I hope that they are
not teaching students to place the gun locks inside the trigger guard,
in violation of Rule Three.)

Not The Best Shooting: A 17-year-old Californian is in custody, with a
bullet wound to the foot, after trying to break into the home of a man
who is a reserve sheriff's deputy in neighboring San Bernardino County.
Reportedly, at least ten shots were fired, some of which struck another
home. (Reserve status was probably the only means to get a CWP in
Riverside County.)

SB 1250, the bill to eliminate the fingerprint requirement for CCW
permit renewals, will be heard in the House committee on Natural
Resources and Public Safety (NRPS) on Wednesday February 28, 2007.

SB 1250 passed out of the Senate by a vote of 27-2. It's half-way to
the governor's desk! Now we need to make sure it gets through the House.
Please take the time to drop a polite note to the committee members
saying that you would like to see SB 1250 voted out of committee with a
recommendation for passage by the full House.
