Minnesota Deadly Force Law: In response to an article linked yesterday
and my comment that it implied that Minnesota lacks a castle doctrine,
an instructor and list member replied:

"In Minnesota, deadly force is permitted to prevent death or great
bodily harm -OR- the commission of a felony within the dwelling. There
is no duty to retreat from one's home. While I would certainly not
advocate such a response, if you light a crack pipe in my living room (a
felony in MN), I could kill you with impunity. Civil action by your
next-of-kin would be dismissed if I can establish that my actions were
in response to your criminal act...I impress upon my students that a
couple of guys trying to carry out your Plasma TV may be a felony, but
shooting a them for theft is not a good idea for several reasons (all of
which you are aware and will spare you). I do not advise anyone to
search the house for a burglar trying to steal the stereo. We are not
cops attempting an arrest, we are citizens attempting to preserve our
lives and those of our family."

Candidate Giuliani - Defender Of RKBA?: Former NYC Mayor Giuliani has
announced his candidacy for president and was interviewed by Sean
Hannity on February 5. He is suddenly a supporter of the Second
Amendment and a concept of federalism that allows to be interpreted one
way in " a densely populated area like New York" and another way "in
another place, more rural, more suburban." (This section of the
interview is about 40% of the way down the page.)

Another Mayor Dumps Bloomberg: Another mayor's dropped out of New York
Mayor Mike Bloomberg's anti-gun coalition. Anchorage, Alaska, Mayor Mark
Begich says he signed on because he's concerned about guns in the hands
of criminals. But Begich says he's dropping out because he doesn't think
Bloomberg's been honest about his agenda...

US Attorney Letter To Bloomberg "Significant Victory": A letter to the
office of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg from the U.S. Department of
Justice scolding the mayor's infamous 2006 gun sting operation and
advising that Bloomberg's administration could face "potential legal
liabilities" over such stings was called a "significant victory" against
the Big Apple mayor's anti-gun antics by the Second Amendment
Foundation. (It's a sad day when RKBA activists need to rely on the BATFE.)

Nebraska Mayor's Veto Maintains Local CCW Ban: Mayor Mike Moser vetoed
the ordinance that would have allowed Nebraska Concealed Carry permit
holders to carry concealed handguns in Columbus...The mayor said he does
not see the need for such a measure given the "relatively low crime rate
and rare occurrence of violent crime in Columbus."

Washington Bill Would Mandate Gun-Show Background Checks: Gun rights
advocates packed two Senate hearing rooms Thursday as those in favor of
gun control moved to expand background-check requirements to gun

"What this bill is about is expanding the database of Washington gun

Florida Men Followed From Range, Robbed Of Guns: Oviedo police think two
people may have been followed home and robbed after they left a local
gun range. The man and his friend were robbed in the driveway of a home
on Lullwater Drive in the Kingsbridge West subdivision on Sunday. (This
is one of the reasons that many of us forgo displaying RKBA stickers on
our vehicles.)

When Guns Are Outlawed...: A firearm dealer, who made a show of concern
