NRA Sounds Alarm Of Not-So-Imminent Threat: A columnist for The
Washington Post minimizes the NRA's concern about a potential assault on
the RKBA by the leadership of the new Democratic majority in Congress.

John Longenecker's Letter To Congress: ...In short, the Second Amendment
was written to be two things; first, as the safeguard of the sovereignty
of the individual as supreme under our system, the rights enumerated by
the new Constitution were to be backed by civilian force and civilian
force forever...Second, the Second Amendment was written to be
impervious to ordinary due process short of another amendment so that it
could not be infringed by political argument or other sway to push aside
the lawful resistance to looting of the nation or any other motive.

David Codrea's Letter To President Bush: Blogger David Codrea points out
to the president that the FAA ruling on firearms in space travel
contradicts the earlier position of his administration that the Second
Amendment protects and individual, not a collective, right to keep and
bear arms.

The Illogic Of "Gun Control": ...Logically, there is no reason to put
law abiding citizens through all the red tape to satisfy the anti-gun
lobbys...A criminal however, has already crossed the mental bridge
separating right from wrong in his intent...So the only persons affected
by a gun control law are those who would already obey the law to begin
with, and therefore should not need to abide by a law intended to deter
criminals!

For NYPD, Year Of The Gun: The year started with Mayor Michael
Bloomberg, during his Jan. 1 inauguration, launching a crusade to crack
down on illegal gun sales - and the New York Police Department, in turn,
stepping up efforts to curb gun crimes, with gun arrests up 14
percent...Still, the number of shootings rose during 2006, up for a
second straight year.
