Be Advised...: In December 2006, I attempted to order another batch of
25 copies of my book Defensive Use of Firearms from Paladin Press, its
publisher. I was advise that six of the copies would be back-ordered so
I only ordered 15. Yesterday I again attempted to order 25 copies and
was advised that 21 of them would be back-ordered; I ordered the
remaining four copies. I am awaiting a response from Paladin as to why
they have not had the book reprinted. In the interim, I have four sale
copies left in stock and four more on the way. Some of you who have been
intending to purchase one may wish to do so while they are still
available. If Paladin has decided to discontinue the book, it will
likely be a while before I can reprint it privately.

Stand-Your-Gound Bill Resuscitated In Montana: The House bucked the
law-enforcement community and endorsed a proposal to let residents
brandish firearms if they feel threatened. The measure, House Bill 340,
took a tortured route through House floor debates, where it first was
supported two weeks ago, killed last week amid pressure from police
groups, resuscitated with the help of gun-rights activists and then
endorsed again today.

From AzCDL:
We apologize for the lateness of this Alert. We cannot predict when the
House will post their floor calendars and were only able to catch this
at the last moment.
Tomorrow, February 27, 2007, the House will convene the Committee of the
Whole (COW), and will debate and vote on HB 2458, a bill that would
prohibit the Governor or Adjutant General from confiscating lawfully
held firearms or ammunition during a state of emergency.
Information on this and other bills can be found at the AzCDL website:
http://www.azcdl.org/html/legislation.html
Now comes YOUR part - Take the time to let EVERY Representative know
that you want them to vote FOR HB 2458, and that you are monitoring
their vote. The following is a cut-and-paste message that you can use,
or personalize to your taste. Following the letter, we've provided
emails lists of the House members in semi-colon and comma separated
formats. Use the one that works with your email software.
Subject: Support HB 2458
Dear Representative:
The Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL) has informed me that the
Committee of the Whole (COW) will be hearing HB 2458 on February 27,
2007. I urge you to vote FOR the passage of HB 2458.
I was horrified by the events that followed Hurricane Katrina in New
Orleans. As violent criminals attacked citizens with impunity, law
enforcement abused a statutory provision that allowed the government to
"regulate" firearms during a state of emergency in order to confiscate
privately owned weapons. They deprived law-abiding citizens of their
only means of defense against otherwise unrestrained violence. It is
imperative that law-abiding citizens in Arizona do not face similar abuse.
HB 2458 protects the rights of law-abiding citizens by preventing the
confiscation of lawfully owned firearms by State officials during an
emergency.
Again, I urge you to vote FOR HB 2458.
Sincerely,
Your Name
