Jersey City Handgun Law Struck Down: Jersey City's one-gun-a-month
ordinance has been shot down. Hudson County Superior Court Judge Maurice
Gallipoli, calling the law "arbitrary and capricious," ruled last week
the five-month-old city ordinance violated New Jersey's equal treatment
principle, since gun dealers and buyers in Jersey City would be treated
differently than elsewhere in the state.

State Senator Defends Ohio CCW Reform: "When our Founding Fathers set
out to establish the governing laws of this nation, much debate centered
on the importance of individual freedom...However, on occasion, there
have been some who have questioned the merit of these freedoms and have
done their best to restrict them..."

Ohio CCW-Privacy Compromise Bill Sent To Governor: Today the Ohio House
of Representatives took up Substitute House Bill 9 and considered
amendments made by the Ohio Senate. As you may recall, Representative
Tom Brinkman amended HB9 on the House Floor to create an opt-out system
that would allow concealed handgun licensees to deny journalists access
to their private information.

Suicide With Rental Gun At Arizona Range: A Tucson man walked into a
range, rented a pistol and shot himself. (An indoor range where I used
to shoot in California had two such incidents. In at least one, the
shooter gave several indications of his intent. Perhaps NSSF could
provide some training for range employees.)

What Are The Odds? An off-duty police officer carries his Colt 1911
variant into the room with an MRI machine. As he removes the gun from
his holster, it is pulled from his hand by the machine's magnet. The
angle at which the gun strikes the machine appears to have moved the
firing-pin safety, allowing the gun to fire on impact. The thumb safety
was still locked.

More Legislation By The Executive Branch: BATFE has reversed an earlier
ruling and decided the Akins Accelerator stock, which mimics full-auto
fire, is now a machinegun conversion kit. Purchasers of the device
appear to be in limbo. (In my opinion, full-auto is usually a good way
to turn money into noise.)
