Bounty Hunters Net $9 Million In Lawsuit: Two bail-recovery agents were
mistakenly given authorization by Southwest Airlines personnel to carry
firearms aboard a 1999 flight, then arrested at their destination after
a flight attendant detected the error. (In 1991, I was issued the
paperwork, by a ticket clerk at LAX, to carry a firearm aboard a plane,
despite the fact that I had shown that my unloaded handguns were in my
checked luggage and tried to tell her that it was the wrong form.)

Books vs. School Shootings: A candidate for state school superintendent
in Oklahoma says he believes old books could be used to protect students
caught in a school shooting. Republican Bill Crozier says if he's
elected he would put thick, used textbooks under every desk for students
to use as self-defense. (Books will stop bullets, particularly if
they're packed tightly into a bookcase, with no empty spaces between the
shelves. This can provide better cover in the home than interior walls
and mattresses, which are usually mostly air.)

for him in a getaway car, was shot by a homeowner in northern Los
Angeles County after he broke into her home, forcing her to retreat into
her backyard. (Note the typical pattern of two shots to the abdomen, one
to the leg and one miss, as shots are pushed low and to the non-dominant
side.)
