Those Infamous "Teflon Bullets": Some of Pittsburgh's unarmed
school-security officers were able to subdue and disarm a pair of
students who were attempting to return to Peabody High School with
handguns. "One of the guns contained Teflon bullets." (KTW
armor-piercing bullets, long out of production, were made of steel and
coated with Teflon for lubrication. The only American police officer
shot with a KTW bullet was not wearing a ballistic vest. The rounds in
question were probably Nyclads, which have a blue Nylon coating,
originally introduced to reduce airborne lead contamination on indoor
ranges. Those of us who have them tend to favor the 125 gr.
standard-pressure Nyclad hollowpoint for use in small, lightweight
revolvers.)
