Protective Order Fails, Handgun Does Not: An Oklahoma man ignored a
protective order and drove his truck through a metal gate to shoot up
his ex-wife's mobile home with a .22 rifle. He ended his attack when she
shot him in the groin with her handgun. The woman sustained a minor
wound to her shoulder in the attack.

Perhaps They Thought It Was A Baby Glock: A first-grader in Kansas City
MO has been suspended for 10 days for taking a two-inch plastic squirt
gun to school. (Some people use the term "baby Glock" for the shortest
models, such as the 26, 27, 33 and 39.)

Tangentially Related: Most of the judges of the Ninth Circuit Court of
Appeals, including Alex Kozinski, oppose its proposed breakup.

In 2003, this is what Kozinski had to say about some of his colleagues
on the court ignoring the Second Amendment:

"...All too many of the other great tragedies of history -- Stalin's
atrocities, the killing fields of Cambodia, the Holocaust, to name
but a few -- were perpetrated by armed troops against unarmed
populations. Many could well have been avoided or mitigated, had the
perpetrators known their intended victims were equipped with a rifle
and twenty bullets apiece, as the Militia Act required here. See
Kleinfeld Dissent at 5997-99. If a few hundred Jewish fighters in
the Warsaw Ghetto could hold off the Wehrmacht for almost a month
with only a handful of weapons, six million Jews armed with rifles
could not so easily have been herded into cattle cars.

"My excellent colleagues have forgotten these bitter lessons of
history. The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way
vivid stories of gun crime routinely do. But few saw the Third Reich
coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday
provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances
where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses
to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts
have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their
decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today,
facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

"Fortunately, the Framers were wise enough to entrench the right of
the people to keep and bear arms within our constitutional
structure. The purpose and importance of that right was still fresh
in their minds, and they spelled it out clearly so it would not be
forgotten. Despite the panel's mighty struggle to erase these words,
they remain, and the people themselves can read what they say
   plainly enough:

'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a
free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall
       not be infringed.'

"The sheer ponderousness of the panel's opinion -- the mountain of
verbiage it must deploy to explain away these fourteen short words
of constitutional text -- refutes its thesis far more convincingly
than anything I might say. The panel's labored effort to smother the
Second Amendment by sheer body weight has all the grace of a sumo
wrestler trying to kill a rattlesnake by sitting on it -- and is
   just as likely to succeed."

Ken Blackwell has been refusing to go along with the political
establishment in Ohio for years. Now he is within striking distance of
being elected governor this November.

Blackwell is a long-time outspoken defender of gun rights in this key
battleground state. Blackwell, an African-American, has been willing to
take his conservative views directly to black voters. As a result he has
historically won nearly half of their votes.

This ability to pry support from traditionally Democrat voters has
enabled Blackwell to win several statewide races -- most recently the
office of Secretary of State.

You may remember the post-2004 election turmoil in Ohio stirred up by
nearly three dozen lawsuits instigated by anti-gun billionaire, George
Soros. Blackwell was the state official in the crosshairs because the
Ohio Secretary of State is in charge of enforcing
election laws.

Blackwell won every single suit.

A Blackwell victory in Ohio will be politically significant nationally
because Ohio is a must-win state in any presidential contest. With
Blackwell as governor, he becomes the de-facto head of a party which has
until now opposed him every step of the way.
Presidential candidates will have to pay attention to what issues
Governor Blackwell thinks is important.

What a switch that will be! Presently, the governor is Bob Taft who
disgraced himself by getting caught (and convicted) in four payola
charges. The Crook in Chief is also very anti-gun and stalled and
weakened Ohio concealed carry legislation for years.

With Blackwell in the governor's chair, I am looking forward to the
opportunity to see Blackwell's signature on legislation rolling back
some of the damage done by Governor Taft.

Rolling back gun control by a high-profile, conservative, pro-gun
governor would help build momentum for moving the Second Amendment
agenda forward across the country.

I urge you to keep Blackwell's momentum strong by giving a generous
contribution of $25, $50, $250 or more. Whatever you can give will be
important and greatly appreciated. Blackwell's support is coming from
the grassroots, and that means you and me.

importance to all gun owners.
