No Data To Back Up Feelings: The Los Angeles Times bemoans both the
expiration of the federal ban on cosmetically impaired firearms, two
years ago, and the fact that they can no longer get data to help them
back up their feeling that "the number of crimes in which they have been
used has undoubtedly risen."

Oops, Wrong Victim: A robber in Indiana reached through the window of a
truck to grab the driver's necklace. In response to being choked, the
driver put five 9mm rounds into the robber, who did not survive.

A Shooting Dissected: In June 1997 I was privileged to preview the
latest LAPD "Officer Involved Shooting" video involving Officer Stan
Cook of the Honolulu PD. Stan is now retired and has posted a few
accounts, primarily in video, on his own website. This includes amazing
reenactment footage of an officer finishing a gunfight after having been
knocked to the ground by a hit with a bullet from 7.62x39mm rifle.
