Omaha City Council Votes Repeal Of CCW Ban: The Omaha City Council on
Tuesday repealed that community's historic ban against carrying a
concealed weapon, with a 5-2 veto-proof margin. No efforts have been
made to repeal a local CCW ban in Kearney and Lincoln is still debating
initiating a local ban.

Oops, Wrong House: A Colorado man died after trying to enter a home
through a window held partially open by an air conditioner. The burglar
apparently expected the home to be empty. The owner was not only home,
he was armed with a shotgun.

NYPD Officers Shoot More, Hit Less: Newsday picks some data from the
2005 NYPD SOP-9 (Annual Report of Discharges) and notes a 75% increase
in the number of shots fired by officers over the previous year and a
drop from 20% to 8% in the number of times they hit their intended
targets. (This seems consistent with informal reports that I receive
from LASD.)

Rule Two, Rule Three Reminder: A Missouri State Highway Patrol captain
shot himself in the arm during a training exercise. (Rule Two: Don't let
the muzzle cross anything you're not prepared to shoot. Rule Three: Keep
your finger out of the trigger guard, up on the frame, until your sights
are on the target and you're prepared to fire.)

New Hampshire Range Features Ladies Night: It's no accident that the
Firing Line is in New Hampshire and so many of its customers are from
Massachusetts. New Hampshire has some of the most permissive gun laws in
New England, while Massachusetts prohibits any "assault weapon or large
capacity feeding device [more than 10 rounds]."
