Oops! NYPD Returns Seized Guns To Dealers: Cops handed back 234 firearms
to the Woodhaven Rifle and Pistol Range in Woodhaven, Queens, after
seizing the guns in an undercover sting on May 25. The turnaround came a
day after cops returned 247 weapons taken from DF Brothers Sports Center
in Brooklyn in the same sting. (It looks as though Mayor Mike's
"investigators" may have gone a bit too far in the mayor's publicity drive.)

Meanwhile, Joining Hands With Massachusetts...: Less than six months

Mayor Mike's Paint Ban: Years ago, when Day-Glo orange tips were
mandated to toy guns, gun owners pointed out the risk that criminals
would use that color scheme to confuse police. Now it appears that kits
are being sold for that very purpose and NYC's Mayor Bloomberg wants to
ban them.

Michigan Senate Approves Stand-Your-Ground Bills: The measures would
allow people to use deadly force -- with no duty to retreat -- if they
reasonably think they face imminent death, great bodily harm or sexual
assault. The legislation also would protect people from civil lawsuits
if they have used force in self-defense.

Americans Increase Spending On Firearms: Americans spent more than $2
billion on guns and ammunition in 2005, showing the nation's fascination
with firearms is not fading despite concerns raised by gun-control
advocates. NSSF said handgun purchases showed the biggest gain, rising 3
percent in 2005.

No Charges For Now In Shooting Of Burglar: Police have decided not to
charge a Lawrenceville GA homeowner who shot and injured an alleged
burglar at his home last week but the case has been referred to the
district attorney. A complication with this case as it relates to
self-defense laws in Georgia is that Ramsey shot the intruder in the
front yard, not inside his home.

London Cops Blame Negligent Discharge On Gloves: A terrorism suspect in
England was shot unintentionally by a "gun cop," who apparently was
unable to feel that his finger was on the trigger due to thick
chemical-protection gloves he was wearing. (It sounds like the primary
issue was an involuntary muscle contraction, which may have been
independent of whether the officer had initially placed his finger
inside the trigger guard prematurely. The point about thick gloves and
short-stroke triggers, however, is well taken.)

From AzCDL:
HB 2076 is an AzCDL supported bill that would require on-site, "readily
accessible" storage and "immediate retrieval" of a weapon when public
establishments or events forbid them:
http://www.azleg.gov/DocumentsForBill.asp?Bill_Number=HB2076
HB 2076 also modifies A.R.S. 13-3102, Subsection F to state that
concealed carry laws do not apply to weapons carried in a vehicle's "map
pocket."
AzCDL worked with the sponsor of HB 2076 prior to its introduction this
legislative session. AzCDL was present at every hearing and, along with
the NRA, tirelessly lobbied for passage of HB 2076. But it was YOUR
involvement and activism that turned this important legislation into law.
HB 2076 is just one of a number of bills that we are working on. And it
doesn't stop here. Legislators view AzCDL as a representative of
Arizona gun owners. We'll be working on new bills for next session. To
be even more effective, we need your help - as members of AzCDL. Please

In the meantime, we will be wanting to know with the various towns and
cities,
among others plan to do to finally comply with the law.
We will be asking for input from members.
