Arizona Governor Signs Self-Defense Bill: Governor Napolitano has signed
SB 1145, the bill that returns the burden of proof to the state in
self-defense cases and restates Arizona's castle doctrine. (I am very
glad to have been mistaken on this bill - I had expected to see her veto
it.)

From AzCDL:
SB 1145, probably "the" most important bill in the last decade, was
signed by Governor Napolitano on Monday, April 24, 2006.
SB 1145 (self-defense; home protection) started as a "castle doctrine"
bill, but was later amended to restore the presumption of innocence in
cases of self-defense that was quietly legislated away in 1997.
Information on SB 1145 can be found here:
http://www.azleg.gov/DocumentsForBill.asp?Bill_Number=SB1145
SB 1145 also has an "emergency" provision, so that it becomes effective
upon the signature of the Governor.
AzCDL worked closely with NRA, ASRPA and many other dedicated activists
on the passage of SB 1145. But it was YOUR calls, letters and
unrelenting pressure that ensured that this historic legislation would
become Arizona law, and YOUR rights would be restored. Together we ARE
making a difference!
