opportunity to appoint two more conservatives to the court, President
Bush chose to renominate stealth candidate John Roberts as chief
justice. Now he has hinted that he may nominate Attorney General
Gonzalez for the seat to be vacated by Justice O'Connor. Gonzalez has
already indicated that he supports restrictions on private ownership of
cosmetically impaired firearms.
