California's SB 357, An Analysis: John Longnecker dissects the
California bill that would require semi-automatic handguns to microstamp
ejected cases with serial numbers. (As I understand it, that bill is
actually AB 352 and SB 357 is the bill to require microscopic serial
number on bullets -

The Plot Sickens In Orange County: Orange County (CA) Sheriff Mike
Carona cited John Lott's book More Guns, Less Crime when he promised
more equitable issuance of CWP's. The fact that he has been issuing
CWP's annoys The Los Angeles Times, which never misses a beat in its
drive to discredit Carona's reserve program and his issuance of CWP's.
Here's the latest embarrassment.

A Reminder Up The Coast: LAPD's non-sworn anti-terrorism chief may be
leaving for a position with the FBI. The Los Angeles Times reminds us of
his 2004 detention at Los Angeles International Airport in September
2004 after screeners found a loaded .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun
in his carry-on bag, in violation of federal regulations that prohibit
civilians from carrying weapons aboard aircraft. Miller called the
incident a "mistake."
