? Who came up with UHS?
Jason Strautman designed UHS and created the first reader. Since then,
different people have written readers for various platforms.

? Why UHS/Mac?
I decided to write a Mac version after I couldn't get help on a game I
was playing late one night. I have always been an avid game player,
and I
do it on the Mac, so it was only natural for me to want a Mac version
of
UHS.

? UHS Format History
The original UHS file format had a rather simple file structure and no
special data, just hints. Later, the 91a format was created. This
format is
much more flexible and also supports graphic hints and large
explanatory
text blocks.

? A Special Note to Mac Users
Do NOT, for any reason, strip out the linefeeds from UHS files. They
are expected
and required. Thank you.

? A Note about FTPing UHS files
Since UHS files require the PC specific CR/LF End of Line encoding,
they MUST be FTPed in binary mode. Also when downloading UHS files
from a HOST system, it would be better to use straight Binary mode
(not MacBinary mode.)
