You have just been informed that someone in MI5 (British internal
intelligence) is a traitor with plans to steal the British Crown
Jewels. In order to trap the suspect, you are to sneak into the Tower
of London, bypass all the security, and REPLACE all the authentic
jewels with traceable replicas, WITHOUT the British knowing anything!

The game is best described as "Myst meets Thief". Move through the
Tower of London, avoid guards and security alarms, and solve the
different puzzles (how to deactivate the alarms and such without
anyone noticing).

Download #7 is the English CD1. No patches or additional steps are
required to fix the language. You can use this with CD's 2, 3 and 4 as
they are the exact same (MD5 checked).

Download #5 is an unpublished DVD version (no disk swapping, yay!)
contributed by Peppepop.

# Essential read before doing anything!

This game installs with default settings to Swedish language and
texts. It also comes with a bug giving at least three Sound files
playing simultaneously under the intro video where you're briefed with
your mission in the game. Here's how to set things straight from the
beginning:

After install and before running for the first time, do the following
two things:
? Install file 'scripts.cxt' from archive
'Traitors_Gate_SW_Patch.sit'; ie drag into the folder 'Traitors Gate'
on your hard disk and click 'Yes' to exchange/overwrite the installed
file. This solves the bug with duplicate Sound in intro/mission
briefing.
? Copy the files in the archive 'locale.sit' into the folder 'locale'
in the same folder where TG was installed, ie 'Traitors Gate folder'.
Click 'yes' to replace some files.
? Now to the (unfortunate) people who don't read/speak Swedish; open
the file 'Lingo.ini' in the folder 'Traitors Gate'. Edit 'set
gLanguage = "Sv" into 'set gLanguage = "En"', close and save. You can
also set 'Du' for Dutch version. Anything else here defaults to Dutch
text and sound.
? To be sure and/or if you did run w/o applying the two steps above;
delete any content in the folder 'Prefs' in 'Traitors Gate folder'.

Note:
After tinkering with this installation my conclusion is there's three
language versions; Swedish, English and Dutch.
Feel free to add information here if there are more languages to find!

Added info 2019:
The default language for the DVD version is English, so no need for
any patching.
I will see if I can find the rest of the languages and upload them
separately. The speaker in the video may or may not work this way,
since all nine languages are in the opening brief and I switched them
on and off depending on the language, hence the lovely mash-up in the
nordic release. (you did test the master, right?)

Oh, and be sure to run this in 256 colours. Otherwise you can't see
the video clips, at least not under emulation in SheepShaver, as it
seems.

Added info 2024:
I've put all the raw language files in a Zip file called locale.zip. I
guess the easiest way to get it to work is to rename the file
langXX.cst you want to use, to langSp.cxt if you want spanish for
example. Totally untested, I will see if I can "protect" them into the
correct format. And I can't for my life remember how I programmed the
language check ![Laughing out loud][1]
