French developer Infogrames gave the [Alone in the Dark][1] engine a
facelift for this spiritual spin-off, but PC gamers' reaction to its
creaky tech and underdeveloped story (a modern man must fight monsters
in the 14th century to rescue his girlfriend... something something
Knights Templar) sank plans for a trilogy and left the Mac port's fate
in doubt.
So much so, in fact, that it's still in doubt today.
An English-language demo appeared on [MacAddict][2] #14 (October
1997), but before the issue had even left newsstands, a
comp.sys.mac.games.* poster reported that MacPlay had "[since
discontinued][3]" and "[no longer carries][4]" the game. Further
confusing things, the December '97 and February '98 issues of [Inside
Mac Games][5] state that Knight's Chase shipped in November 1997 and
was only available by direct order from MacPlay. Whether even this
minimal release actually took place remains unproven.
A year later, a new glossy magazine for Mac gamers launched in France:
MacFun would run for the same 10-issue lifespan that [Mac Action][6]
had in the UK. Its December '98 premiere issue came with the complete
French Mac version of Le Secret du Templier as an exclusive coverdisc.
This remains the only confirmed publication of the game for classic
Macs.
If you have the English CD-ROM version of Knight's Chase, please
upload it here.

I would attach the English demo to this page, but it isn't playable
without the MacAddict CD inserted.
