Games- First release from cache of early Macintosh software for the
original Macintosh from 1983/1984, possibly from inside Apple.

This disk includes the earliest version yet of Johan Strandberg's
Daleks, which is a debug version (it will crash the emulator or even a
real Macintosh of the era, but someone I'm working with claims it is
not available elsewhere on the net and claims it is an early debug
version.

"So far, the bad news is that your version of Alice is identical to
the
first known prototype. The good news is some of the other finds are
unique to my knowledge, like a debug version of Johan Strandberg's
Daleks and an October 1983 prototype of Macintosh Pascal, when it was
known as "Instant Pascal.""

This disk includes Daleks and the other programs included in the
screenshot. The version of Missile Command is different than any other
I have seen or played before, and I would be interested to know how it
compares to the earliest versions available on the net for b/w Macs.
It is also the source disk with the lost, prototype version of "Mouse"
which later became known as Mouse Stampede 2.0 when finished.

The disk's name was changed to GAMES, it originally said simply "Disk
5" in pen on the label, and I annotated it lightly in pencil for my
own archival purposes. Various people inspected the copy of the MFS
volume recovery copy on the second to last sector of the disk image
and determined that when it was originally initialized in the 80s it
was named "Mac 87D9". Who knows if it had something else originally
and was then overwritten with games (likely). The original volume
label from initialization does not change even if the disk is renamed
later. Either way, it includes some interesting and fun games that are
not available online anywhere according to my knowledge, and the
knowledge of the user here helping me who contacted me privately.

Enjoy!

1st file: zipped .dsk for use with emulators (bootable)
2nd file: .image DiskCopy 4.2 image for writing to a 400k floppy and
use on a real machine (rename from .img to .image)
3rd file: Stuffit .sit made in Stuffit Deluxe 3.0.1 (I think), use
Stuffit Lite 3.5 to expand into a 400k DiskCopy 4.2 image.

If anyone needs or wants it in a different format (e.g. .img that is
binhexed, or in a Stuffit 3.5 .sit) please just ask.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k

System 1-1.1g. Some of the games WILL work on later System Software,
up to 6.0.8 (i.e. Mouse) but others probably will not. The disk is
bootable. Use in Mini Vmac or write the img (rename to .image) to a
400k floppy for use in a Macintosh SE or earlier.
