### Basic Concepts
The Sanderson Accu-Tuner (SAT) has the ability to transfer all the
piano tunings in its memory via the MIDI ports (if so equipped, some
SAT?s will need to be upgraded to MIDI). "MIDI" is an acronym for
Musical Instrument Digital Interface, and is used by a wide variety of
musical devices and computers to talk to each other in a common
language.
It is due to Dr. Albert Sanderson's foresight that such a standard was
chosen for the SAT, since it makes possible communication from his
tuning aid to any computer with MIDI. The Atari, IBM, and Macintosh
computers are all able to use MIDI.
Our program is the link between the Macintosh and the SAT. With Tuning
Manager, a Mac has the tuning power of the SAT, and the SAT gains the
computing and storage capacity of its "bigger brother".
Once Tuning Manager receives tunings from the SAT, they can be
modified, saved to a file on floppy or hard disk, sent to another SAT,
compared to other tunings, printed, graphed, and edited to perfect the
tuning before transferring it back into the SAT for use on a piano.
