1\. The Airbrush tool uses the current pen size and pattern as set in
the Pen option of the Styles menu.
2\. Double-clicking on a tool will open the dialog box that controls
its features.
3\. The minimum length any repeat can have is 0.125 inches or
centimeters, depending upon which unit is selected.
4\. If you are using a screen saver and it is activated while a dialog
box is on the screen, portions of the box may not be redrawn when you
exit the screen saver by moving the mouse or pressing a key. If this
happens, simply Cancel the dialog box and reenter it.
5\. Printing speed may vary greatly depending upon what has been drawn
and what symmetry is chosen. For instance, lines print more quickly
than shapes. Likewise, polygonal shapes print faster than freely drawn
shapes. Ovals, boxes and freely drawn shapes in hexagonal and point
symmetries, must be specially rotated resulting in the longest
printing times.
6\. When Symmetry Studio is opened, the page size is set to a default
size of 7.5" by 10.0" which represents the printable area (paper size
less margins) of a Letter size sheet of paper. This is set regardless
of what printer driver is chosen. To adjust for different printer
paper, choose Page Setup from the File menu and select a paper size
(e.g. Tabloid, if your printer supports it). The page size will be
adjusted accordingly. After changing Page Setup, the Document Size
item always changes to the printable page area as found in the printer
driver.
7\. If a Document Size is set by the user to greater than the
printer's paper size (as set in Page Setup) the symmetry will be tiled
over multiple printer pages. The current maximum is 10X10 pages.
8\. Although both inches and centimeters are supported as units,
switching between the two systems frequently in one document is not
recommended. Some loss of precision will occur. We recommend choosing
the units first, then establishing the page size of a document. The
page size may be adjusted within one system of units without any loss
of precision.
9\. The Copy item in the Edit menu will copy all sites that appear
within the window at the current level of magnification. To export at
the current page size and 1:1 magnification, save the drawing as a
PICT file. Symmetries are copied and exported as objects so elements
may be individually manipulated in programs like SuperPaint and
MacDraw. Symmetries will be imported as bitmaps in paint programs.
10\. When the size of the symmetry drawing approaches the limit of
available memory a warning is issued asking the user to Save and quit
drawing. All drawings stopped at this point will be reopenable and
printable. If drawing continues, the program will exit when memory is
completely full. Any drawings saved at memory limit shutdown time may
not be able to be reopened and printed without more memory being made
available to the program.
11\. A stamp containing boxes or ovals will not appear symmetrical if
it was saved in a point symmetry with more than two rotations or in a
hexagonal symmetry. If you want the stamp itself to preserve the
underlying symmetry in these cases, use the Shape tool instead of the
Box and Oval tools.
