Split & Join v1.2.1 is a very rare (well, perhaps until now) near
forgotten Macintosh utility for splitting large files into smaller
chunks or joining those chunks back together again.

? the DL is archived as a StuffIt v3.6 ".sit" file containing an 800k
Disk Copy 4.2 disk image file.

Split & Join is ideally suited to splitting large flat files that
contain no Macintosh Resource Fork data, such as compressed StuffIt
sit files or other file types such as .tif, .png, .jpg, etc.

It's also OK at splitting Disk Copy 6.x .img files (if created without
using Disk Copy compression), or other disk image files such as .iso,
or .cdr files.
?Just add the chunk size (in K) that you wish to split files to and
follow the prompts from there.

This software, although it was written for much earlier Mac OS's in
mind, I had no problem using this on a G4 running Mac OS 9.2.2. - This
is one very well written piece of software and is very fast in
operation.

Important: (System 7.0+) To have Split & Join working with Macintosh
"Drag & Drop", to enable batch splitting/joining, you 1st need to
"Rebuild the Macintosh Desktop": [Instructions here][1] if unfamiliar
with this term (Web Archive).

On Mac OS 9.x, I had increased the Split & Join memory settings to
1MB. But probably this wasn't necessary, as it is super fast &
efficient at splitting files 100's of MBs in size, using a much lower
RAM setting.
