Smooth Windows is an extension (native on PowerMacs) that replaces the
standard window moving code with a far cooler implementation. First
off, it makes it possible to drag the actual window without erasing
either the window contents or the desktop background. Smooth Windows
also includes features to constrain window movement to
horizontal/vertical axes, and a special precision movement mode where
all moves are scaled down when you need that one-pixel adjustment.

However, the real beauty of Smooth Windows lies in its translucency
effect. Provided you have the memory and the processor speed, Smooth
Windows will draw windows translucent so you can see through while
moving them around. This feature can be disabled automatically based
on window size or screen depth to avoid sluggish performance.
