First DL: Quid Pro Quo v2.1.3
Second DL: Quid Pro Quo v2.1.3 Plus
Third DL: Quid Pro Quo v1.0
"Quid Pro Quo is the next generation of our web server. This new
server features support for such advanced features as virtual hosts,
Java servlets, and is the first web server to make use of the full
multihoming features of Open Transport 1.3."
Functionality
Quid Pro Quo offers advanced server features such as virtual hosts and
multihoming, allowing webmasters to run multiple web sites with a
single server. HTTP Accept-Language redirection provides the ability
to host web sites in multiple languages. Java servlets allow you to
easily extend Quid Pro Quo's built-in features. Built-in server side
includes allow you to create dynamic web pages that change every time
a user visits. And Quid Pro Quo Plus 2.1 includes a powerful search
engine to give users fast access to all the information on your web
site.
Security
The extensive security features Quid Pro Quo ensure that you keep
complete control over what clients have access to your site. Support
for MacOS Users and Groups file permissions provides compatibility
with a wide range of other network products. Server realms allow you
to control access on a folder-by-folder basis. Quid Pro Quo also
allows you to select which clients can connect to your server based on
the client IP address and domain name. Quid Pro Quo Secure is also
available, with full SSL version 3 support.
Extensibility
If Quid Pro Quo doesn't have a feature you need, you can easily add it
to the server. With support for Java servlets, WebSTAR(r) and MOSAPI
plug-ins, CGI applications, and scripting through Frontier and
AppleScript, Quid Pro Quo is the most extensible MacOS web server
available.
System Requirements
Quid Pro Quo Plus 2.1 works on any 68020 or better Macintosh, Power
Macintosh, or MacOS-compatible computer running System 7.5 or later.
The Quid Pro Quo Plus 2.1 application requires at least 3.5 MB of RAM
to run. System 7.1 is supported, so long as Apple's Thread Manager
extension is installed. Server-side Java support requires MacOS
Runtime for Java (version 1.5 or later recommended, available for free
from Apple). Also required is Open Transport 1.1 or later or MacTCP
2.0.x. Open Transport 1.3 or later is required for full IP address-
based multihoming.
System Recommendations
For best performance, Quid Pro Quo 2.1 should be installed on a
PowerPC Macintosh running Open Transport 1.2 or later. Dial-up
connections are supported, but direct connections via ethernet, ISDN,
or frame relay are recommended.
