One is a dialog containing a list of the processes, showing memory
usage and accumulated fractional cpu use time for the selected
process; there are also buttons to kill or bring to the front the
selected process. The other is a window containing a histogram
indicating the short-term fractional load on the cpu due to each
process. The Open item in the File menu is for launching an
application, or opening a document whose creator is available. The
order in which processes are listed is controlled by the Order menu,
and the appearance of the cpu load window is controlled by the Load
menu. The frequency (number per second) of sampling can also be set
from this menu;
a higher frequency gives a more accurate picture, but will itself use
more of the cpu time.
