A multi-purpose utility that automates and enhances many aspects of
making voice phone calls. It works through the modem connected to your
Macintosh, and therefore requires that you have a modem, and a phone
connected to the same phone line as the modem. It does not require a
speaker phone modem or any other special equipment.
Some of PhoneTech's notable features:
* Includes a compact and easy to use "Phone Book" with which you can
store any number of names and phone numbers for quick access.
* PhoneTech can be set to "keep trying" a phone number if you don't
get through on your first try. If you either get a busy signal or
there is no answer, PhoneTech can automatically redial the number
at intervals you control, until you get through. (PhoneTech can
also be set to give up after some number of attempts.)
* PhoneTech can dial a number from within any database or other
program. Just select the phone number and hit a special "hotkey";
PhoneTech will dial the number in the background.
* A call timer can show you the accumulated time of phone calls. The
timer can be set to automatically time long distance calls, all
calls, or only time calls when activated manually.
* "Voice mail macros" can automate the process of navigating voice
mail menus that require you to enter a series of numbers to reach
the party you want.
* Keep notes on each entry in the PhoneTech phone book; these notes
can be easily updated, automatically date-stamped, and up to 32K
long.
* Sophisticated "import" feature allows you to transfer names and
phone numbers from other databases to the PhoneTech phone book.
* "Listen In" feature uses your modem as a one-way speaker phone.
This is useful for when you're put on hold for extended periods.
* Automatic translation of text phone numbers, such as "1-800-SOS-
APPL".
