In order to use a PC monitor you need to use a video adapter
converting from the Apple Display connector to the VGA.
The Apple monitors use ID pins to indicate to the computer which
resolutions it supports. Those settings are done by the adapter using
switches. There are adapters with 10 switches with 6, even with 7.
