Panorama
A Turbo Studly Hotline Client
* First and foremost, the most notable difference between Panorama
and other clones, so far, is TIDE, the client-to-client
enhancement which works over any Hotline server that allows users
to change their icons and send private messages. TIDE finally
brings advanced client-to-client features to Hotline, the same
features IRC users have enjoyed for years, and then some.
Currently, Panorama users can send and recieve files, operate
'fservs,' mini fileservers, and play games with other Panorama
users. As an added bonus, all private messages sent between TIDE
users are automatically encrypted!
* Addons: Panorama is able to use multiple iconlists, and you can
configure the precedence one icon set has over the others. For
what it's worth, we stuck with the original icon format, which
means you can use plain old unconverted user icon files, at the
cost of a little extra disk and memory usage. For that reason, we
may switch to zombie style iconlists at some point in the distant
future. Soundsets are also normal Hotline style. Many Hotline
servers used to carry soundsets and toolbars for the original
client, but since 1.5 was released, the number of servers
featuring such collections has decreased dramatically.
* CLI: Panorama has a very functional command line interface, with
support for IRC style chat commands as /me, /nick, /away, and
/who, as well as many others.
* AppleScriptable: It's easy to add on to Panorama using
AppleScript. Just drag the app onto the Script Editor to get a
look at its scriptable features, or use the included demonstration
scripts as starting points for your own neat creations.
* Threaded News: Panorama supports Threaded News as used on Hotline
1.9 servers.
* ... and much more.
* TIDE: Whether you're just sending a snapshot to a pal, or serving
up your band's tunes, do it in style with TIDE! This is a DCC
style protocol that works over any Hotline server, allowing you to
do very neat things.
