PageMaker 7.0 was the final version release of Adobe PageMaker, with
version 7.0 released July 9, 2001, and an update to version 7.0.1
released in February, 2002. Adobe's development of PageMaker ended
with version 7.0.1 and legacy support ended a few years later.

 * DL #1: "Adobe_PageMaker_7_PPC.sit". This is a "Release Candidate"
   (RC) development beta release of PageMaker 7.0. It is a fully
   enabled, working beta and appears to be a stable RC.
   * Also included with this RC, is the updater patch to PageMaker v7.0.1. - The update appears to go OK but then - cripples itself once the update is complete. When you next attempt to run the updated PageMaker 7.0.1, it kills itself on launch and will no longer run from then on. See the "Workaround" for this, below
 * DL #2: Full Adobe PageMaker 7.0 install CD as ".iso" image file in
   a StuffIt 5.5 ".sit" archive.
This archive also includes the version 7.0.1 update installer.

 * DL #3: The Contents CD accompanying the PageMaker 7.0 CD release.
   This is a hybrid Mac/Win ".iso" image in a StuffIt 5.5 ".sit"
   archive. It contains clip-art only, in Illustrator ".ia" format
   and bitmap JPEGs.

 * DL #4: Possibilities CD, an iso image containing tutorials to
   "Master the basics" of using PageMaker 7.0 ?sourced from the
   [Internet Archive][1] ? I think it may be one of [Thor's][2]
   uploads to the IA (with thanks).
The CD also contains [Photoshop Elements][3] (demo).
Note: The enclosed iso mounts includes both HFS and ISO9660
partitions. The ReadMe (PDF) mentions Mac and Windows as if this CD
should be a hybrid, but it's not. The executable files in both
partitions are the same (Mac only), although some of the included
documents can cross platform. Only the installers in the HFS partition
will run correctly. For best results use [MacZip][4] if extracting
this zip archive in a classic Mac system.

 * Workaround: (For DL #1, only)
   1. Install the Release Candidate (DL #1)
   2. Fill in the personalization details and use the provided serial to complete the install.
   3. When done, launch PageMaker to test it works (it should do so at this stage).
   4. Quit PageMaker, then run the included updater v7.0.1 patch to update.
   5. When done, launch PageMaker again (it should now fail and exit, but this step is important).
   6. Open the "Preferences" folder inside of the start-up disk's System Folder and locate the file named "Adobe Registration Database".
   7. Open the Adobe Registration Database using a plain text editor such as BBEdit.
   8. You should see an entry in the database, beginning:

      * [PageMaker 7.0]
      * PLANG=1
      * REGTYPE=1
      * SERIAL=nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
   9. Copy and paste, replacing the SERIAL line with: SERIAL=103902346092228653486130
   10. Save the database and quit the plain text editor.
   11. You should be able to launch and run PageMaker 7.0.1 OK from now on.
