MetaTrack is a direct-to-disk audio montage and mixing application
specially designed to be used with MetaSynth. MetaTrack utilizes
MetaSynth sounds easily, as both programs share many settings, but
MetaTrack can also import SoundDesigner II and AIFF files. It displays
all sounds graphically using MetaSynth preset pictures and sonograms
instead of waveforms and provides a unique visual approach to audio
sequencing. A montage is made by simply dragging and dropping from a
collection of sound pictures displayed at the top of the screen.
Automatic snap-to-grid and file management features make the program
really easy to use.

\- MetaTrack 1.2 can handle about 16 stereo tracks on a 200 MHz
machine. The number of simultaneously playable tracks will be less on
slower machines and is also dependent on the speed of your hard drive.
This number may decrease dramatically on slow or badly fragmented
drives.
\- The MetaTrack user interface is designed to be used with screen
sizes 832*624 or larger. It will work on a smaller screen but not all
of the 16 tracks will be visible.
\- MetaTrack places small sounds into memory for faster performance.
You may give MetaTrack more memory if you experience playback
anomalies.
\- Version 1.2 offers some effects applicable to individual tracks.
Effects are CPU intensive and a 300 (or more) MHz machine may be
necessary for smooth playback. However, effects will be applied
correctly when mixing.
