One of the many Apple HyperCard clones/competitors, MetaCard was
particularly incredible for its cross-platform support, contrary to
the likes of SuperCard. Around the time the 2.x versions came, the
project was acquired by RunTime Revolution Ltd. (later LiveCode Ltd.),
who went on to develop the project further, and to this day lives on
in the form of the product "LiveCode".

This page focuses on the files & software provided by MetaCard
Corporation, found in their website, <http://www.metacard.com/> .
Using Archive.org's Wayback Machine, you can inspect what they
offered, and when. Currently, it's mostly the 2.1.x (and earlier)
version files that are missing.

If Runtime Revolution files, including the "MetaCard" files found in
their Yahoo! Groups page at
<https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/MC_IDE/info>, are to be uploaded,
I suggest creating a separate page here on Macintosh Garden for
clearer distinction.

The original MetaCard website, although existent, doesn't host the
files anymore, and archive.org could not back them up, because they
were provided over FTP download links. Instead, the files here were
found in the following locations:
MetaCard 2.2:
<https://www.medvet.umontreal.ca/techno/eta6785/metacard/metacard.htm>
MetaCard 2.3 ~ 2.5: <http://www.canelasoftware.com/mc/>
Each download on this page is provided as a ".zip" for maximum reach,
as it contains software for various OSes and hardware platforms. On
Mac OS, they can all be decompressed using at least StuffIt Expander
5.5.1, which is both PowerPC and 68k compatible. The Mac files found
within are already all ".sit".

Since both Runtime Revolution and LiveCode software are directly
related to MetaCard, the following links might be of interest:
