MacWrite II is a powerful and easy-to-use midlevel word processor. It
offers a faithful implementation of the Macintosh interface, a
powerful find/replace function, elegant multiple columns and mail-
merge.
While it will run on a 68000 Mac such as the Plus or SE; but the
performance is painfully slow. For these machines, choose either an
older [MacWrite][1] version or [WriteNow][2]

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k
Requires a Mac Plus or later, 1 MB RAM, System 6.0 or higher
Runs well on Basilisk II running SSW 7.1.1, also runs fine on Mini
vMac, SSW 6.0.8 - SSW 7.1.1.
Interesting "Help" system. The HyperCard v1.x Engine is built into
MacWrite II. The Help file itself is a Stack and the MacWrite II 1.1v2
Help system can open external HyperCard v1.x Stacks with limited User
Levels available.
> The Claris Help System now supports cut and paste operations from
> within the MacWrite II Help System or from any HyperCard stack.
>
> * To open a HyperCard stack from within the Help system:
> 1. Choose Help from the Apple menu to open the MacWrite II Help
> System.
> 2. Press Command-M to display the Message box.
> 3. Type "Go" (no quotation marks) in the Message box and press
> Return.
> The "Where is ?" dialog box appears.
> 4. Locate the stack you want to open.
> 5. Select the name and click OK.

The optional MacWrite II Thesaurus works well in SSW 6. - In SSW 7 it
still works, but is clumsy to use.
Note: MacWrite II 1.1v2 and 1.1v3 are 32-bit clean. That means
MacWrite II can use 32-bit addressing, even while spell-checking or
autoscrolling a blank page (which used to be problems in v1), and run
under A/UX. Versions before 1.1v2 are not 32-bit clean.
