Based on PC Globe, MacGlobe ("The New World Order") contains detailed
world and regional maps, a range of country maps that show the
topography, natural features and major cities of each nation.
A note about the downloads available from this site:
* The first download above contains an archive of Disk Copy 4.2
images,
created with 6.3, obtained from original floppies
* The second download above contains pre-installed MacGlobe v1.3 on
a Disk Copy 6.3 image,
best for Basilisk and SheepShaver
* The third download above contains pre-installed MacGlobe v1.5 on a
ShrinkWrap 2.1 image, compressed with Stuffit 3.5
Installation hints:
To install the application, the disk must not be locked, otherwise the
installation will be cancelled with an error msg.
When using Mini vMac, it requires a lot of times disk swapping (you're
DJ, aren't you?),
until the application has been installed successfully.
So, while you're in your host operating system (Mac OS X, Mac OS
Classic, Windows), open both the folder which contains the un-locked
MacGlobe floppies and the folder which contains your Mini vMac boot
disk (The MacGlobe Installer will complain if it finds locked
floppies). Then, if the Installer or the emulated Mac OS asks you to
insert a disk in request (boot disk, Installer Disk 1 or 2), just drag
it onto the Mini vMac window to get it mounted within. Don't hesitate
if it asks for next disk very immediately, just do, feeling a hundred
times...
Seems the emulated Mac OSes in Bas and Sheep reject all the emulated
drives as well while running the MacGlobe Installer, but how to re-
insert them when the emulated Mac OS requests for?
While Mini vMac still remains the only emulator available to allow
drag & drop, you can run the Installer within Mini vMac, but the
installed MacGlobe runs within Bas and Sheep as well.
Otherwise, the second download offers a custom-made Disk Copy 6.3 disk
image with MacGlobe already pre-installed. Runs fine within all the
Mac emulators available, and if you're using Mac OS 6,
you need to un-lock this disk image first.
