This is the elusive Mac OS X 10.4.0 Tiger For PPC G3's. CD Version
~~Apple didn't want Tiger to be installed on G3 machines because the
G3 doesn?t have Altivec, however some G4's don't have it either and
Tiger will install on those machines.~~
Therefore I created this CD set for my own personal use, for my
collection of G3 iBooks by removing all the ?bad machines? in the
system installers blacklist.
Theoretically this should install on any PPC Mac, but I have only
tested it on iBook G3's from 300Mhz Clamshells to a 2003 900Mhz PPC750
G3 White 12.3 iBook, picture enclosed.
This system will install on machines with or without Firewire and
works perfectly on all of them, (albeit a little slow on the
Clamshells) and is fully updateable just like any other Tiger install.
OS 9 is supported, just make sure OS 9 is installed first then start
the Tiger install by double clicking on the installer inside OS 9.
I recommend at least 512 MB of RAM (640 is ideal) and a 466 Mhz
processor or faster for this to work properly. (It Will Run On A
Clamshell 300 Mhz Without Firewire And 320 MB Of RAM)
