Links2 2.21 For PowerPC Panther ported by Alex Free
\-----
About
\-----
Links2 (homepage is at <
http://links.twibright.com/> ) is a web
browser capable of both a command line and graphical user interfaces.
This release is up to date as of 12/23/2020, and supports all PowerPC
Macs (604/G3/G4/G5) running Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above. Rosetta is
required for Intel Macs to run this build.
Links2 does not support javascript, but it is extremely fast and
because this build is 100% up to date TLS 1.3 is supported as well.
\-----
Setup
\-----
Download and unzip the latest release (r4). Double click the
Links2.app. Select either graphics mode or text mode.
The graphics mode requires /Applications/Utilities/X11.app to be
installed. The text mode does not. X11 is an optional install in the
OS installation of Mac OS X 10.3 and Mac OS X 10.4. On Mac OS X 10.3,
it was also provided as an additional separate download. I have
uploaded this version to the Macintosh Garden (
<
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/x11-panther> ). On Mac OS X 10.5 and
10.6 X11 is installed in the default OS installation.
\--------------
Advanced Usage
\--------------
You may want to use this release from the command line. For example,
you can use MacSSH ( <
https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macssh-21> ) on
Mac OS 9 (with Zlib compression disabled in MacSSH to allow it to
connect to newer OpenSSH versions) and run the Links2 text mode
remotely.
Since this is a portable release that can run anywhere, the commands
to run in graphics mode or text mode change depending on where
Links2.app is. In the below example commands, Links2.app is at
'/Applications/Links2.app'. Change '/Applications/Links2.app' in the
commands if Links2.app is somewhere else.
Text Mode:
/Applications/Links2.app/bin/links -ssl.certificates 1 -ssl.builtin-
certificates 1 -ssl.client-cert-crt
/Applications/Links2.app/cacert.pem
Graphics Mode:
/Applications/Links2.app/bin/linksx -g -ssl.certificates 1
-ssl.builtin-certificates 1 -ssl.client-cert-crt
/Applications/Links2.app/cacert.pem
