KernEdit is program used to create kerning tables for screen fonts
(Font/DA Mover files). Since most fonts shipped back then had no
kerning tables or very poor ones, you had to do a lot of manual
kerning for every document you wanted to look at least halfway
professional. But Apple provided no way for users to do that, so Pairs
Software stepped in to fill that gap.

It's a very small program and it has rudimentary help available. It
requires Mac OS 6.0.2 or higher, and it does work in Mac OS 9.2.2.
Note that if you have Adobe Type Reunion installed, you must disable
it or KernEdit will not run.

The download is a .image file that's been compressed with StuffIt 5.5;
you can use Disk Copy 4.2 to write it back to a floppy, or you can
change the extension to .img and open it in your version of Mac OS and
then Drag-Copy the files to a folder on your Classic Mac system.
