iTunes for Mac OS X / macOS. Originally released in 2001 (in
conjunction with the first iPod that same year), iTunes is descended
from the music player [SoundJam MP][1] from Casady & Greene, which
Apple acquired in 2000.

iTunes came to be used by Apple not just for playing music, but also
for podcasts, audio books, and movies, as well as for installing
"apps" to one's iPhone or iPod Touch prior to the introduction of the
Apple App Store.

iTunes for macOS was officially discontinued in 2019 starting with the
release of macOS Catalina (macOS 10.15). It was replaced in Catalina
with a number of task-specific applications (namely "Music",
"Podcasts", etc.) by Apple, who sought to streamline the overall user
experience. Although iTunes for macOS continued to be updated for
users of the preceding macOS Mojave (macOS 10.14), use of iTunes was
disallowed in Catalina and later. The last official version of iTunes
was iTunes 12.9.5.5, released in 2021. iTunes remained in use on
Windows platforms until February 2024.

Early versions of iTunes may no longer have functioning internet
radio. If you have non-functional internet radio, please try the
patched "[Garden iTunes][2]" apps, which have newly restored Garden-
powered functionality!
