Run the Installer. (this does not interfere with macports installs or
require macports)
Then copy the Irssi icon/launcher to /Applications.
You can place the Irssi icon/launcher on the dock next to the trash
can if you want.

Connect to a server: /connect irc.freenode.net (or any network)
Join a channel: /join #macgarden (or any channel)
Change nickname: /nick your-nick
Navigate through windows/tabs with esc+1, esc+2, etc etc.
