Grappler LS is a software utility and printer interface cable system
for connecting Macintosh computers to serial-based Laser/DeskJet &
DeskJet Plus printers. It supports laser printing, portrait &
landscape printing, print spooling, and "all Macintosh print modes".
The software on this page includes the Grappler LS Utilities disk, as
well as two font disks. They were captured from original media as
three 800k Disk Copy 4.2 disk images, compressed with StuffIt 1.5.1,
and encoded as BinHex 4.0.
(v1.4)
Compatibility
Architecture: 68k
Requires System 4.2 / Finder 6.0, or later.
Intended for use with the Macintosh Plus, SE, and SE/30, as well as
the Macintosh II, IIx, and IIcx.
In order to function, Grappler LS pretends to be an ImageWriter LQ.
Therefore, Grappler LS can only perform functions that are compatible
with the ImageWriter LQ.
The target printer must be set to the following parameters: 19.2K baud
via serial, 2 "stop" bits, 8 "data" bits, no parity, and "DTR
handshaking". The target printer should have DIP switches to
accommodate these settings.
Technically compatible with MultiFinder, though Grappler LS may run
more slowly in that environment, and out-of-memory errors may also
occur.
