Gossamer 2.0 brings Virtual Reality to the Macintosh desktop - for
free! This software is freeware, so please distribute it as widely as
you like. Any commercial endeavors using Gossamer or the Gossamer
libraries must have explicit permission from the author, Jon Blossom
(see below).
Gossamer gives you a window on a virtual world. You can create your
own worlds from the sample objects included or build your own.
Gossamer 2.0 is mostly compatible with the PLG and WLD file formats
described for Rend386, a popular freeware renderer for the PC.
Documentation for those formats is available on most information
services or for ftp from sunee.uwaterloo.ca if you're interested in
pursuing it.
Read the "Help" section in the application's Apple menu. It describes
the controls of Gossamer. The user interface takes some getting used
to, but once you do it works fairly transparently.
Requirements
\------------
Gossamer requires a 68020 or higher processor Macintosh running system
7 or system 6.x with 32-bit QuickDraw installed. Though 8-bit color is
preferred for maximum impact, Gossamer will also run on 4- and 1-bit
(Black and White) systems.
