Modify the way that your Mac displays colours. To do this, they map
certain colours (input colours) to other (output) colours. Your
graphics card then uses this mapped output to generate the correct
signals for your monitor. This allows you to adjust the global
settings for your monitor and work environment in one place, and have
these adjustments active for all programs.

By spending some time deciding which gamma settings give you the best
image, you may find that you can drastically improve the image quality
of your monitor. This is especially true if you usually use your
monitor in bright or dark environments.

Gamma resources are kept either in the system file or in the Monitors
CDEV. To access the gamma resource selection dialog, open the Monitors
CDEV, and hold down the option key while clicking on the 'options'
button in the Monitors CDEV. A list of gamma resources available to
you will appear, along with a checkbox that enables or disables your
selection.

How to use these gammas:

Open both the enclosed "gammas" file (it's a RESEDIT resource file)
and your Monitors CDEV, and paste the new gamma resources into the
Monitors CDEV. (As usual, keep a backup copy of each file.) That's all
you need to do. You don't even need to restart. If you open up the
Monitors CDEV and hold down the option key while selecting 'options',
your new gammas will be available. Your gamma settings are retained in
the Monitors CDEV configuration, and will be active until you
specifically change them.
