G4FanControl is a useful application which enables you to program the
hardware fan controller of your iBook/PowerBook G4 laptop. Set the
desired thresholds for each sensor, you'll get to know what's best for
you, in my case, I live in the Caribbean and 50 to 55 degrees for each
one is what works for me.
For unsupported machines, enter the following into Terminal to
manually raise system fan speed to max RPM:
sudo kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleFan
Similarly, enter the following to return fan speeds to normal:
sudo kextload -b com.apple.driver.AppleFan
