Frame Technology's FrameMaker 4 is a document processor for the
production and manipulation of large structured documents.

FrameMaker 4.0.2 was released in 1994 as separate 68k Macintosh and
PPC native, install sets (version 4.0.2 for Windows and Unix platforms
were also released at this time).

FrameMaker would by 1995 become an Adobe product, when Adobe purchased
Frame Technology Corp. Adobe added SGML support, which eventually
morphed into today's XML support. By April 2004, Adobe ceased support
of FrameMaker for the Macintosh.

 1. v4.0.2 ? 68k native, as original disks imaged as Disk Copy 4.2 images in a StuffIt 5 ".sit" archive.
 2. Preinstalled "drag-n-drop" folder of v4.0.2 with US dictionaries.
 3. v4.0.2 ? 68k native, as original disk images plus disk as extracted folders as an easy installation method to get FrameMaker to install properly in emulators, plus having a choice of US and/or International English dictionaries. DL is contained in a StuffIt 3.6 ".sit" archive, requires StuffIt 3 or higher to extract.
 4. v4.0.2 Prerelease Power PC native. ? A preinstalled copy with US dictionaries ?ex demo, which can be fully activated (See below for code).
 5. v4.0.4 ? 68k native, a preinstalled copy. Full version with complete set of added templates, help files, docs, etc. Includes US & IE dictionaries. ?ex demo, can be fully activated, serial is included in with DL.
 6. Updaters to FrameMaker version 4.0.4 ?see screenshots. These updaters will only update over an installed copy of FrameMaker version 4.0.2 ? The DL includes both 68k and PPC updaters.

 8. Exploring FrameMaker 4 - A Rolling Demo: a Macromedia "Macromind Player" vers. 3.1.3 software, it requires System 7 and a 68020 or higher CPU to play. This demo is also included in with DL#5.

Minimal: 68020, 5MB RAM, 8MB Disk, System 6.0.7 or higher
Full: 68030, 8MB RAM, 18MB Disk, System 7.1 or higher.

 * Notes:
   * The prerelease PPC copy @DL#4 cannot be updated with the v4.0.4 PPC update patch, as the prerelease predates the final Gold Master release of v4.0.2. The patch finds mismatches in the software encoding which prevent it from completing the update.

   * The prerelease PPC copy does not want to run in Sheepshaver, in any Mac OS I have tried it in so far. Actual PPC Macintosh hardware is OK, and the 68k versions seem to run OK in SheepShaver too, QEMU might fair better with the PPC prerelease version. YMMV.

   * The v4.0.4 update patches appear to be able to run in 68k Mac OSs only, and fail to run in PPC Mac OSs, including the PPC update patch. Again, YMMV.
